HR (HRM)
Shift change requests
Let employees ask to change their shift for a day, or let managers override it, with approval.
Who can use it
Staff with the shift change request permission. Both employee requests and manager overrides require approval from the next level up.
Where: HR → Shifts → Shift change requests.
Requests, pending first.
The screen
The list shows requests with pending ones first, then resolved ones.

Step-by-step
Raise a request
- Click New request.
- Select the employee and the request date.
- Choose From shift and the shift you want to move to.
- Explain "Why do you need this change?" and click Submit request.
Approve or reject
- Open the request.
- Review the times. Add a note if useful.
- Approve, or reject with a reason. The employee is notified.
Change one person's shift for a day from the grid
- Open HR → Shifts → All employees shifts. It opens on the current week.
- Click the person's day. The details panel opens below the grid.
- Click Change shift. A custom shift form opens with the person and the day already filled in.
- Set the start and end time, add a reason and save. The grid shows the custom shift on that day.
Change shift shows only to people who may create custom shifts. The times you enter are kept exactly as entered, in the branch's own time.
Example scenario
Sumi has a family event on Thursday. She requests a move from the Morning to the Evening shift. Her team lead approves it with the note "OK, Tanvir covers the morning". Thursday's roster changes for that day only.
Tips
- Raise requests before the day. Past-dated changes may affect attendance already generated.
- For permanent changes, use a shift assignment instead.
Troubleshooting and FAQ
I cannot approve my own request. Approval comes from the next level up by design.
Approved, but attendance still shows the old shift. Regenerate attendance for that date.
