Team chat: settings and integrations

Workspace rules for team chat, and how to connect your project tools, post their updates into channels and build your own apps.

Who can use it

Administrators. Everyone else uses Team chat as it is set up here. Webhooks, commands and apps depend on your plan.

Channels	Who can create channels	Everyone or Administrators only.
Channels	Allow guests in channels	Lets people from outside your company join a channel.
Messages	Keep messages for (days)	Older messages are deleted for good. At least 7 days, or Forever.
Messages	People can edit and delete their own messages for (minutes)	Empty means always.
Messages	People can delete their own messages	On or off.
Messages	Show link previews	On or off.
Messages	Allow administrators to export conversations	On or off.
Calls	Allow audio and video calls	Turns calls in team chat on or off.
Calls	Allow audio calls (through your phone system; people need an extension)	Audio calls over your phone lines.

Click Save. The message "Settings saved." confirms it.

The page has five tabs.

Tab	Use it to
My tools	Connect your own account for Jira, Asana, Trello, ClickUp, Linear or GitHub. Then create issues, tasks or cards from a message, and see previews of their links. Trello needs your own key and token. If a tool says it is not set up, ask your administrator.
Incoming webhooks	Make a private address for one channel. Paste it into a tool (GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Linear, Asana, Trello, ClickUp, monday.com or anything that can send JSON) and its updates appear as messages. A signing secret is optional. New URL replaces the address.
Event subscriptions	Give an address and choose events. 9bx sends a signed request when they happen in chat. Send test tries it, Deliveries lists every try and when a failed one retries, New secret replaces the signing secret.
Slash commands	Add a command: what people type after it goes to your address and the answer is posted in the chat.
Apps and API	An app is an API key with chat rights. It posts messages under its own name, reads history and can create channels. Create an API key, and copy it at once, it is shown only once.

Rotating a secret or key stops the old one immediately.

Problem	What to do
Updates from a tool do not appear	Check the address and secret in the tool, and open the webhook's received count.
A delivery keeps failing	Open Deliveries and read the detail. Fix your server, then Send test.
"Not part of your plan"	Connecting your own tools is included. Webhooks, commands and apps need a plan that has them.
