Phone devices and IP phone guide

Add desk phones and gateways so they set themselves up, and find the step-by-step guide for connecting a phone.

Contents

What it is for

Phone devices lists your IP desk phones and gateways. Add a phone by its MAC address and it fetches its settings on its own: extension, password, time, language and line keys. Gateways (for example a Dinstar box) can also hand over their call recordings.

Who can use it

Administrators with the Phone devices permission. Your plan may limit phones ("N of M phones", "Your plan does not include IP phones").

Where to find it

Phone → Setup → Phone devices and Phone setup → Advanced → IP phone guide.

The screen explained

The page is titled "Phones & devices" with two tabs: IP phones and Gateways.

IP phone guide

A step-by-step page for connecting each supported phone brand: how to open the phone's web page, where to enter the provisioning address or sign-in details, and what to check. Use it together with the Setup card of the device.

Tasks

Add a desk phone

  1. Open Phone devices, tab IP phones, press Add phone.
  2. Type the MAC address from the sticker under the phone and pick its extension.
  3. Save and open the Setup card.
  4. Put the provisioning address in the phone's auto-provisioning setting, or set DHCP option 66 once on the office router.
  5. Power the phone. It restarts, signs in and the status becomes Online.

Add many phones

  1. Press Import CSV and upload your list.
  2. Review and confirm.

Example scenario

Padma Net Support installs 12 desk phones in a new Chittagong branch. The IT person imports a CSV of MAC addresses and extensions, sets DHCP option 66 on the router, and all phones configure themselves within minutes.

Tips

  • Set Phone defaults first so every new phone gets the right language and time.
  • Use Restart & reload after changing an extension's settings.

Troubleshooting

The status line explains why a phone is not working:

Message Fix
Switched off Switch the phone on.
No extension Edit the phone and choose its extension.
Extension switched off Switch the extension on.
Has not fetched its settings Put the provisioning URL in the phone, or set DHCP option 66.
Settings fetched, not signed in The phone cannot reach the phone system. Check office internet and firewall.
Never signed in Compare the details typed into the phone with the setup card.

PBX server not reachable Try again in a few minutes; contact support if it persists.
